Patrick Thomas is a revered figure in Australian music - only the second Australian-born conductor to become the Chief Conductor of a state symphony orchestra and a man famed for his ability to fill in at short notice when cancellations occurred. And as this ground-breaking 8-CD set demonstrates, the breadth of his repertoire was breathtaking, spanning from Palestrina through to contemporary Australian music, all of it delivered with panache and a meticulous sense of detail.
