In the hit ABC TV series The Abbey, five ordinary Australian women agree to spend 33 days living the life on a Benedictine nun in Australia's first enclosed monastic community. This is the first time the very private nuns have allowed the outside world into their cloisters, and the result is a glimpse into the mix of prayer, obedience, renunciation and silence which dictates their lives.

In stark contrast to today's modern hectic city life, the nuns of Jamberoo Abbey live on a rural property in quiet solitude, allowing them to focus on prayer, helping others - and singing.

Seven times a day the nuns unite in prayer, chanting beautiful music which serves as a break from the silence which surrounds the rest of their waking hours. Through this music they connect to each other, to the community at large, and most importantly, to God.

This companion album features the nuns from the TV series singing beautiful sacred music. Accompanied by only the church organ and the birds that live in the Abbey grounds, this is an album which will stir the soul. A mix of hymns, psalms and prayers sung with simplicity and sincerity of heart - truly spiritual music.

Recorded in the Church of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple at the Benedictine Abbey of Jamberoo, NSW.
