When Ernest Ansermet passed on, the search was on for another conductor who had the grace, elegance and elan of the Swiss conductor. Charles Dutoit was Decca's man. His building of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra is fabled and together with them - as well as other orchestras - he remains one of the cornerstones of Decca's catalogue. Now, on his 70th birthday, Decca pays tribute with a 6-CD set, bringing back many items long unavailable.
