Recorded live at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place, Sydney in December 2004 Monteverdi's Orfeo (presented by Pinchgut Opera) was regarded by many as the musical highlight of 2004. Starring the acclaimed early music specialist Mark Tucker in the title role and a cast of Australia's finest singers (including Sara Macliver and Paul McMahon) this history-making production was captured for CD release by ABC Classics. Also featuring Cantillation and the Orchestra of the Antipodes (on period instruments) this release joins only a handful of complete recordings of this vibrant and important work.
