Cyrano de Bergerac with Alagna in the title role is a world premiere, Cyrano never having been released on DVD before. The opera was recorded during a performance at the Festival de Montpellier in 2003. Cyrano had not been staged in its original version since its premiere in 1936!

The French singer Roberto Alagna is one of the finest lyrical tenors of his generation. He regularly appears at the great opera houses worldwide, portraying the heroes of Puccini, Donizetti, Verdi, Gounod, Massenet and Bizet, among others. He has received remarkable critical acclaim throughout his whole career.

Roberto Alagna is undoubtedly the star of this production, specially mounted for him and featuring the work of stage directors and set designers - David Alagna & Frederico Alagna - who are Roberto's brothers. Alagna has never, according to French reviews, sung more beautifully than in this role which fits him like a glove. The cast also includes a notable performance by the young soprano Halie Manfrino as Roxane.
