Brilliant Melbourne-based jazz saxophonist Fiona Burnett's latest album Counterpoint transverses different moods and colours, like light changing on a landscape. This album of largely improvised pieces takes inspiration from Bach in particular, but infused with Fiona's very special touch. She says of the album:

"With Counterpoint I set out to make a recording that represented my current musical development and influences as an improvising musician in this place in time. A recording that did not shy away from my own sense of truth and one that was mindful of the current moods that I sensed prevail around me in the world. My concept for this recording was working on a number of different levels from the outset. Therefore the term counterpoint, meaning two or more ideas happening simultaneously appeared to speak volumes about what I had set out to achieve creatively."
