Bach's Goldberg Variations are considered to be one of the greatest keyboard works of all time. The rich performance tradition associated with the Goldbergs has seen the popularity of this music grow well beyond the domain of the classical music devotee to virtual pop culture status through the recordings of Canadian pianist Glenn Gould. This new recording by Australian keyboard authority Jacqueline Ogeil presents the work in its original context for harpsichord. Presented on harpsichord the dazzling virtuosity of the piece is revealed in all its glory from the sublime opening aria to the intricate complexities of the later variations.
