As part of the Australian Music Program the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO) will release twenty CD recordings by 2006 to complete the Australian Composer Series - all on ABC Classics. TSO Managing Director Nicholas Heyward said 'With the Australian Music Program and the Australian Composer Series, we aim to be at the forefront of Australian music recording and performance. In time, we will create stronger interest and demand for modern Australian orchestral music. A major goal is to establish a reputation for Australian Music for the TSO, which we hope will lead eventually to performances in the world's musical capitals.'

Richard Mills, the TSO's Australian Music Program Director, said the TSO and Hydro Tasmania are leading the way in supporting Australian composers. 'This is a major commitment - there is no other symphony orchestra or record label in Australia making a commitment of this level.'
