This amazing 20-year old has already been hailed as the 'Slava Grigoryan of the oud' by the Sydney Morning Herald.

Born in Cairo, Joseph immigrated to Australia at an early age with an ancient musical tradition that stretches back to his grandfather, a renowned oud virtuoso in Egypt. Joseph is now Australia's foremost player of this instrument and is already a sought-after teacher. He has collaborated with great world-music personalities including tabla master Zakir Hussain and Sarangi master Sultan Khan, and of course Slava Grigoryan, with whom he plays frequently.

The oud is the Arabic ancestor of the modern European lute. It has a graceful, ethereal and exotic sound, making this a supremely atmospheric CD.

This is Joseph Tawadros' debut recording.
