Fresh from starring in Die Another Day, the most successful James Bond film ever, Pierce Brosnan stars in Evelyn, a heart-warming Irish family drama based on true events.

Evelyn is set in 1950's Ireland. Brosnan plays Desmond Doyle, a father who fights a lengthy legal battle with both the Irish government and the Catholic Chuch to regain custody of his daughter Evelyn (newcomer Sophie Vavasseur) and his two sons, placed in orphanages after his wife ran away and he was considered an unfit parent. Doyle must fight against an archaic custody law which deprives him of access as a single father and the film is an poignant illustration of one man's battle with the establishment.

Evelyn is directed by Australian Bruce Beresford. The stellar cast also includes Juliana Margulies (ER), Irish actors Aidan Quinn (Legends Of The Fall) and Stephen Rea (The End Of The Affair, The Crying Game) as well as veteran English actor Alan Bates ( Gosford Park, The Mothman Prophecies).

The soundtrack is composed by English-born Stephen Endelman (Reckless, City Of Industry, Ed, Postcards From America). Its most notable inclusion is the original song Sitting On Top Of The World, written and performed by multi Grammy award winning singer and songwriter Van Morrison.

Other performers include Sissel (singing Angel Rays) and Pierce Brosnan himself sings two traditional Irish songs (On The Banks Of The Roses and The Parting Glass) which he performs in the film.
