Hymns are about praising God. They provide for us great hope, comfort and inspiration. This CD comprises some of the most loved hymns in the repertoire and many have inspiring stories behind them. Out of the tragedy that befell Horatio Spafford's family in the middle of the Atlantic came 'It is Well with my Soul'. 'Blessed Assurance' was penned by a remarkable woman, Fanny Crosby, who spent her life in darkness. 'Amazing Grace' has long since become an international favourite, breaking down barriers in all corners of the world; so much so that many people are not even aware that it too started its life humbly as an English hymn, written by a man who had captained a slave trading ship! 'How Great Thou Art' originated in Sweden before making an arduous journey to the USA where it has become a classic, sung by George Beverley Shea. It even took its place later on the Billboard charts through Elvis Presley's version.
