This is THE traditional concert of the year – the world's famous (and favourite) live and televised concert event - recorded on January 1, 2004 from Vienna with the famous Wiener Philharmoniker - with this year's celebrated conductor Riccardo Muti! Maestro Riccardo Muti has been closely associated with the Wiener Philharmoniker for more than three decades in a long series of concerts, tours, opera performances and recordings.

The motto of the 2004 New Year's Concert was "Johann Strauss the Father and his Sons" marking the 200th anniversary of the elder Johann Strauss's birth. The programme includes seven pieces that have never been performed or recorded for a New Year's concert before. In addition, these pieces are Philharmonic premieres.

In addition to the concert itself, the DVD also contains a special bonus "Treasures of Austria", with impressions of the cultural monuments of Vienna with classical music.

The DVD is available in NTSC format only, playable worldwide.
