Winner of the 2002 ARIA Award for Best Classical Release, Slava Grigoryan returns with a new album – where he is partnered by his gifted younger brother Leonard.

Slava and Leonard have been performing together since childhood. Leonard, only 18 years old, is already on the same path to stardom as his older brother. Since the age of 4 he has performed extensively across the nation, toured to Japan and is frequently broadcast on radio, often in duet with Slava.

Slava, of course, needs no introduction. He is one of the busiest guitarists of his generation, touring internationally and working in all genres from classical to contemporary and jazz. This is his second ABC Classics album.

Play is a collection of incredible works for 2 guitars. Some of the pieces, like the Piazzolla suite, were written for the formidable Assad brothers to play. The atmospheric Kolobok was written for the Grigoryan Brothers by their father Eduard. Himself an accomplished musician, Eduard joined the the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as a violinist after emigrating from Khazakstan. The CD also includes a lovely neo-Baroque work called Evening Dance by Andrew York of the renowned Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.
