Throughout each year, and especially at Christmas time, thousands of people enjoy the experience of hearing Handel's most famous work, Messiah. It not only tells the story of Jesus Christ, but it also considers the whole of human experience - hope and fulfilment, suffering and death, resurrection and redemption - which has resonances with us all.

Many of the arias and choruses (especially the 'Hallelujah' chorus) are some of the most well-known and beloved pieces of classical music.

This release by ABC Classics is Australia's first complete recording of Handel's Messiah, recorded in St Patricks Chapel, Manly in Sydney.

It features some of ABC Classics most renowned soloists (including Sara Macliver and Teddy Tahu Rhodes), the choir Cantillation, and the new Baroque ensemble, Orchestra of the Antipodes conducted by Antony Walker.
