Black and White is based on the true story of the landmark trial known as the Max Stuart trial in South Australia. In 1958, Max Stuart, an Aboriginal man (David Ngoombujarra – Rabbit Proof Fence, Blackfellas), was arrested for the rape and murder of a nine year-old girl in the desert town of Ceduna, and enthusiastic lawyer, David O'Sullivan (Robert Carlyle – The Full Monty, Trainspotting, Hamish Macbeth, Angela's Ashes), is given the "bad lottery prize" of defending him. O'Sullivan realises that Stuart has been framed and decides to take a stand with the help of his legal partner, Helen Devaney (Kerry Fox – Intimacy, Angel At My Table, Last Days of Chez Nous). Pitted against the forbidding yet charismatic South Australian Crown Prosecutor, Roderic Chamberlain QC (Charles Dance – Gosford Park, White Mischief, Hillary and Jackie), he faces a 'David and Goliath' battle. Aided by the young Rupert Murdoch (Ben Mendelsohn - Mullet, Idiot Box, The Big Steal, Vertical Limit) who is fast making a name for himself with his paper the Adelaide News, O'Sullivan takes the case to the highest courts in the land.

The stunning music to this wonderfully compelling story of right and wrong and justice, was composed, arranged and produced by Cezary Skubiszewski, one of Australia's most admired film composers whose credits include La Spagnola, Bootmen, Two Hands, and many others.

This evocative and haunting soundtrack also features Max Stuart singing.
