Any new recording by the great Anne-Sophie Mutter is an event and now, well known to TV audiences through broadcasts of her Beethoven Violin Sonatas (with Lambert Orkis), she returns, more than twenty years after her recording of this masterpiece with Herbert von Karajan, to impart her fresh, and now even more songful view.

Recorded 'live' at concerts in New York, it marked Kurt Masur's last recording with the New York Philharmonic during his term as the orchestra's Music Director (1991-2002). 'Played with sumptuous tone, vibrant colors and bold imagination...fascinating' hailed The New York Times reviewing the live performance recorded for this release.

This recording also includes the two lovely Romances for violin and orchestra.
