A classic piano disc from Decca that seems to have slipped through the cracks and reawakened listeners' interest when a track from it - Solace: A Mexican Serenade - was featured on their highly successful piano compilation Gardens in the Rain.

Fingerbreaker presents 18 sensational rags - sensational in every way. They aren't all 'fingerbreakers', of course - although having said that the CD does include another 'finger piece' - Willie 'The Lion' Smith's Finger Buster. Solace and The Entertainer are two of the most charming. Others are evocative (Willie Smith's Rippling Waters and Echo of Spring).

Beautifully recorded and produced, the album includes a fascinating bird's eye view of ragtime written by Peter Gammond.
