The legendary account of the Three Movements from Petruschka had to appear in this Edition. Here they are coupled for the first time with Pollini's classic accounts of the first two Bartok concertos with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Abbado. The Stravinsky is a recording that one returns to again and again - it is simply unmatched in its combination of technical virtuosity, feeling for tonal colour, rhythmic energy and sense of timing. The Bartok concertos make for an overwhelmingly dynamic experience, by turn ferocious and barbaric, tender and yearning.
