Following much demand, ABC Classics have reissued a thrilling and colourful recording of popular pieces for organ performed on the legendary organ of the Opera House.

Housed in the Concert Hall, the grand organ was built by Australian Ronald Sharpe. He began construction in May 1969, but planning and design had begun several years earlier. Completed in May 1979 at a cost of $1.2 million, it is only recently that the Sydney Opera House organ has come to be regarded as one of the finest instruments in the world.

Recorded in spectacular digital sound in 1982, it is one of the great - and surprisingly scarce! - recorded souvenirs of this instrument.
