This new disc includes a work which has never been heard in public, Symphony No.4.2. As one would upgrade one's software, Carl Vine upgraded his fourth symphony in 1998 specially for this recording. It will receive its concert debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in their Meet the Music series on October 18 and 19, 2000.

Michael Kieran Harvey gives a remarkable performance of Carl's Piano Concerto. The work received a rapturous reception at its premiere in July 1997 and ABC Classics has since been taking calls asking when it might be released. Audiences have been hearing its first movement throughout the broadcasts of the Sydney International Piano Competition, throughout which it was used as the theme music.

For the monumental Choral Symphony, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra enlisted the full force of the Sydney Philharmonia Motet Choir. Listeners shouldn't worry if they don't recognise the language in which the Choir performs. Carl utilised the Semitic Akkadian and Ancient Greek languages, telling, in order, stories of the creation, the earth, the moon and the sun.
