A longtime fan of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and their director Paul Dyer, Andreas Scholl chose this group to accompany him on his new disc. Andreas discovered a special creative spark when he worked with the orchestra during concerts at two previous Sydney Festivals.

The recording features Andreas in four sacred motets, including the popular Nisi Dominus and Salve Regina, and in addition the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra play two rarely recorded string concertos.

Andreas Scholl has already won two Gramophone Awards for his recordings. Fanfare magazine has said, "Scholl's voice is pure and beautiful in sound, his taste exquisite, his pitch and diction immaculate. It is inadequate to compare Andreas Scholl to many other countertenors now working, even the finest of them."

The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra have a fine recording tradition. They have been nominated four times for the Best Classical Recording ARIA Award, taking it out in 1998 for their collaboration with soprano Yvonne Kenny - Handel Arias. The great response to their recordings nationally has encouraged the Orchestra to undertake national tours for the first time in 2000, giving audiences outside Sydney the long-awaited chance to experience their dynamic live performances.
