From the first moment of Liwei Qin's appearance in the 1993 ABC Young Performer of the Year competition, it was obvious that we were observing a musician with a sensitivity and artistic maturity well beyond his tender years. And when Liwei won that competition at the age of only seventeen, the event was not only a public recognition of his precociousness but also a platform from which he could launch his international career. Liwei now resides in London where he continues to display a seemingly effortless ability to win prizes and scholarships.
